コンプライアンスの本当の意味とは
In Japan, compliance is translated simply as “legal compliance,” but its original meaning is to respond to the wishes and requests of all the parties involved. In practicing compliance, it is important to have a broad understanding of and response to the following:First, we are required to comply with relevant laws (laws, ordinances, ministerial ordinances, etc.).
In today’s society, compliance with laws and regulations is the minimum obligation.
Secondly, it is not enough for companies to simply comply with laws and regulations. It is important to adhere to the company’s internal regulations.

コンプライアンスは日本では「法令順守」と訳されますが、本来の意味は「関係者の希望や要請に対応する」ことです。コンプライアンスの実践には幅広い理解と以下の対応が重要です。
第１に、関連する法令（法律、政令、省令など）の順守が求められます。現代社会において、法令順守は最低限の義務です。
第２に、企業は法や規制を守るだけでは十分といえません。社内規範を守ることが重要となります。
all the parties involvedは「～の関係者全員」を意味します。
relevantは「当面の課題に関係のある、適切な、重要な」。一般的な意味の「重要な」とはニュアンスが異なる点に注意しましょう。
Thirdly, compliance with social norms such as common sense and decency is required, to ensure that companies should respond to the stakeholders and society. International initiatives (such as the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the UN’s “Business and Human Rights Guiding Principles”) also fall into this category.

第３に、社会の常識や良識といった社会規範を順守し、ステークホルダーや社会からの要請に対応することが求められます。国際的イニシアティブ（OECD多国籍会社行動指針や国連の「ビジネスと人権に関する指導原則」など）もこれに含まれます。
ここでいう「ステークホルダー」は、単に株主、顧客、取引関係者などをさすのでなく、近年はより幅広く当該企業の活動によって影響を受ける地域社会、政府などを含んでいます。
fall into ～は「～に分類される」。fall into ~category は「～の分野に入る」です。
会社のためだけでなく、自分と家族を守るために
When a company and its employees act with only their own interests in mind, they will never gain the trust of society. 企業や従業員が自分たちの利益だけを考えて行動するならば、社会からの信頼を得ることはできません。コンプライアンス違反を犯した場合には、企業のみならず従業員や家族にも影響を及ぼします。コンプライアンス違反は経営悪化につながり、大きな犠牲を払うことになりかねません。不祥事を起こした従業員と家族の人生が壊れてしまうこともあります。
Families are exposed to the attention of the media and other aspects of society, which can be very harmful to their home life and family stability can collapse in a matter of seconds. とくに昨年はコロナ給付金不正受給に関わる問題やパワハラ、セクハラ絡みでコンプライアンスが問われることも多かったように思います。
また、コロナ禍で在宅勤務が（まだ遅れているとはいえ）広がるなかで、コンプライアンスに関して新たな問題が浮上しています。これには社内規範を作りコンプライアンスを徹底するだけではなく、従業員に対するインターナルマーケティングを緊密にし、会社の理念や方向性を伝え、意識を共有することが重要です。目先の「危機対応」でなく、長期的本質的な視点を持つことが求められているといえるでしょう。その意味で、リーダーシップも新たな文脈で考え直す必要があるかもしれません。
